Methods

"The International Institute of Performing Arts" was created in September 2003, to instigate, promote and facilitate international artistic exchange among artists. The Institute´s goal is to act as a vital and dynamic network, training and promoting new talent worldwide, with the help of our network of international partners.

"The International Institute of Performing Arts" offers a wide variety of seminars, training programs and collaborative cultural exchanges in the world of contemporary performing arts. As a non-profit organization and professional Continuing Professional Education Center, The Institute is expanding its´ educational programs to encourage the professional development of new stage and screen talents, be they actors, directors or playwrights, by offering workshops conducted by a panoply of renowned professional artists from around the world.

Unique in France, The Institute offers innovative and unique workshops in France, such as The Meisner Technique, Practical Aesthetics, and The Alexander Technique, as well as workshops abroad. These cross-cultural training sessions allow young artists to develop their talents and prepare themselves to pursue their careers and collaborate more successfully on an international level.

Our mission is to promote new talent internationally and to offer innovative, high quality professional education in the performing arts at a reasonable price, accessible to everyone.

Uzma Ahmeed : (British)

Theatre Director, and writer, trained as an actress and dancer, Uzma studied western and Indian classical music and dance from an early age. She has been the Director of "The Big Picture Company" since 1997. The company is known for its´ modern take on cultural diversity, which transcends familiar stereotypes of Asian Theatre, and for its´ unique approach to new writing which explores the interface between text and other forms such as music, dance and film. She has sucessfully directed plays in London, at the Young Vic Studio and BAC Riverside Studios.


Sarah Alberston : (American)

Sarah has directed and acted off-Broadway and at professional repertory theatre companies in the US and Canada . As a member of Ghostlight Theatre she has toured to NYC, Canada and Australia and performed at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco. She has also directed and produced films in Toronto, Canada at the CBC and for a commercial production house. She was seen in Santa Cruz last year in Hard Time at the Actors’ Theatre. Sarah has MFAs from the Yale School of Drama and in Film from the Yale School of Art. She is on the faculty of the Cabrillo College Theatre Arts Department.


Lauren Alexander-Lasseur : (American)

Lauren began her career in Los Angeles as an actress, then went on to direct and produce theatre as well as perform. Today, as an Artistic Director in post-synchronisation and dubbing in France, she is responsible for the English versions of numerous French films (Amelie Poulain, Brotherhood of the Wolf,...). As well as the French and English Versions of over one 100 episodes of series television. She also works as an Artistic & Linguistic Coach, specializing in acting technique in English and "character creation". Having recently directed an "original work" in London, of which she is the playwright, Lauren will be directing several plays in France in the coming season...


Trish Bailie : (Canadian)

Head of Voice at the School of Theatre at Manchester Metropolitan University, Trish trained in voice studies at The Central School of Speech and Drama and has since trained as a teacher of the Alexander Technique. Trish has taught classes and workshops for voice in drama schools in London,Oxford and in Italy and has worked professionally as a voice coach on productions in London and in Oxford.


Robert Bella : (American)

Founding member of The Atlantic Theatre Company, which was formed by David Mamet and William H.Macy, Robert has worked on over 100 plays for the stage and radio as an actor, director, writer, and producer. He also served as Atlantic´s Producing Director, Associate Artistic Director, and Executive Director of the Atlantic Acting School. He was instrumental in the development of the acting technique PRACTICAL AESTHETICS, which is outlined in "The Practical Handbook For The Actor" (Random House).


Mike Bernardin : (British)

mike-bernardin.jpgActor and Theatre Director, Mike is a member of the Board of the Actors´ Centre and Director of The Broadway Theatre, where he has produced more than 50 plays. He was trained to be a Meisner teacher in California and London with Scott Williams (The Impulse Company). He teaches at City Lit, The Impulse Company and The Theatre Book Shop.


Philippe Candellon : (French)

Philippe has acted and sung in all the major musicals that have been produced in France in the last twenty years. He has been a member of Les Balladins" in Agenais, Guy Louret, Artistic Director, since 1985. He has appeared in "La Java des Mémoires", Théâtre de la Renaissance, "Les Années Twist", Palais des Sports and Folies Bergères, "la Vie Parisenne à Bercy", "Les Années Tubes", TV series for TF1, produced by Roger Louret. He has also been singing for many years.


Anne de Reparaz : (French)

Casting Director with fifteen years of experience, Anne has worked on feature films and major TV series in France.


Annik Dufrêne : (French)

Actress and Casting Director, Annik has cast more then 100 films and TV series over the last 30 years.


Margaret Eginton : (American)

magaret-eginton.jpgTheatre director, Dancer, Actor,and Movement Specialist. Head of Movement and Dance, Florida State University / Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, ISMETA Registered Movement Therapist and Educator in Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Method, creator of Eginton Alignment work. Former Head of Movement, Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University. Margaret has also directed plays and operas for Seattle Opera, Moscow Art Theatre, the University of Iowa, NYU and New College of Florida.


Josh Fox : (American)

Author and Artistic Director of "International WOW Theatre Company", New York, Thaïland and Japan. The Company explores a new international aesthetic, based on cultural diversity and different langages including physical and visual theatre.


Randa Haines : (American)

born in Los Angeles, has know numerous successes, notably with the film "Children of a Lesser god", recompensed at the Oscars : 5 "The Silver Bear" at the Berlin Festival... She has directed many films, including "Something about Amelia" (received a Golden Globe and nominated at the Emmys), "The Doctor" with W.Hurt, "Wrestling Ernest Hemingway" with Robert Duvall, Richard Haris, Shirly MacLaine and Sandra Bullock, "Dance with me", "The Oustsider" (Showtime) with Naomi Watts and "The Ron Clark Story" for TNT with Matthew Perry. Randa has been nominated 3 times for the Best Director award at the Directors Guilds of Americas.


Catherine Hubeau : (French)

Actress and Theatre Director, Catherine is a former member of the "Comedie Française". She has worked for a few years before deciding to work for "L´Avant Garde", and has acted in more than 50 plays, TV series, and films with the most prestigious French directors.


Daniel Kramer : (American)

Daniel has lived and worked in London for several years. He trained as a professional dancer and actor in the US and in London, and has worked both in the US and the UK. He teaches "The View Point Technique" (Physical Theatre), at the Actors Centre, at New York University, Lebanese University, Beyrouth, Handgar Theatre Lab, NY, NYC Fringe Festival and Northwestern University.


Matthew Lloyd : (British)

Dough Mac Hugh : (American)

Director an writer, Doug has directed the world premiere of Clay McLeod Chapmans´ "Nested Doll.´ In April, he directed "To Kill A Mockingbird" in Connecticut. His short film "The Lake Effect" is in post production, set for a fall festival release. He is currently directing two Edward Allan Baker one acts, "Mafia on Prozac" and the 17th of June" in Manhattan at the Mint Space. He has taught at SLC for eight years.


Kate Maravan : (British)

Gulu Monteiro : (Brasilian)

gulumaxheikesmall.jpgGulu Monteiro is a director, writter and a coach He has taught acting techniques in the US (UCLA; CalArt University; Larry Moss Studio), in France (Bayonne International Theater Festival, International Institute of Performing Arts) and throughout Brazil. He just adapted and directed the Greek tragedy “The Bacchae” by Euripides for the prestigious Getty Villa in Malibu (May 2007). He has various projects as a theater and film director, including “Morro Velho”, a feature film he wrote and will shoot in Brazil in 2008.


Aurélia Nolin : (French)

She received critical acclaim for a new, innovative and contemporary adaptation of "La Ronde" by Arthur Schnitlzer and "La Mère Confi dente" by Marivaux, which toured in France for three years. She has been awarded Best Young Director and her work has appeared at TEP, Paris. Aurélia is the Creator and Director of the "International Institute of Performing Arts", and continues to both teach and act.


Bill Peters : (American)

Actor and Theatre Director, who trained at Yale University Drama School, Bill is also the Director of "Theatre Company" in San Francisco where he teaches and directs. He is also a professor at San Francisco State University and is Head of the directing program for the Drama Department.

Corinne Réquéna : (French)

Corinne trained as an actress and contemporary dancer (IEQG Aix-en-Provence) and choreographer. She teaches dancing and Qi Gong and has been studying, and now teaches, Arts Therapy (Institut de Medecine Environnementale). She is currently working on new plays in Paris ("Zigzag", a dance and theatre piece).


Laurent Sao : (French)

Graduated from INSAS in Brussels with Philippe Jeusette (trained by Mario Gonzales) then he commenced his working life by Vincent Rouch workshops (also close to Gonzales) in Paris or with Guy Ramet in Belgium. Taught mask and clown techniques in France.


Larry Silverberg : (American)

former student of Stanford Meisner. He is an actor, theatre director and an instructor of international renown. He was the artistic direcrot of "The Belltown, Theatre" at Seattle. He has written 7 best sellers, dedicated to the evolution of the actor and the techniques he has developed based on the Meisnerienne approach. He is currently teaching in one of the most prestigious studios of New York : "The School for Film and Television".


Sophie Vaughan : (British)

Founding member of WHITE BOX Theatre Company with fellow actor/writer Kate Maravan and Brazilian Director Marcello Fagundes, Sophie is also a professional script writer and director whose credits include "Dance", a psychological thriller for Channel Four and "What About Grace?", a drama for the BBC. She teaches Meisner and practical drama at the University of East Anglia and the Actors´ Centre in London as well as freelance coaching for professional actors around the country.


Scott Williams : (American)

scottwilliamssmall.jpgFounding member of "The Impulse Company", which works with actors, authors and directors while developping numerous theatre productions. Scott has taught throughout the world for over 20 years, was born in America and currently lives in London. It is thanks to him that the Meisner Technique was introduced and developped throughout Great Britain.
